Honouring Michael James Quinn

Saturday, July 19 would have been Michael James Quinn’s 45th birthday. Michael - known to many as Quinn - was a true original. A sharp mind, a devoted father a fearless dancer, and passionate lover of electronic music. He passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of humor, humility, and kindness that touched everyone around him.

One of Quinn's closest friends was fellow Randolph-Macon Academy '98 graduate and music producer Micke. The two shared many years of friendship, vinyl and DJ sets, from 12-hour bar crawls to long nights at underground gigs. They also shared a love for iconic tracks - one of them being Simple Minds - Don’t You (Forget About Me) [Virgin Records]. Quinn had asked Micke to remix the track, but sadly, never got to hear the result.

Leading up to what would have been Quinn's birthday, Micke is sharing the finished white label EP of Don't You (Forget About Me) remixes as a poignant tribute which is available as a free download to the 21C Progressive House community.
